Last Sunday after the Epiphany

Posted February 19th, 2012

God's leaders met Him on the mountain top. Jesus would go to the mountain top to pray. Peter, James and John accompany Jesus up the mountain only to encounter God's confirmation and approval of His Son Jesus' ministry and the His focus on the cross. We too can experience God when we follow Jesus and listen to Him... God commanded them to listen to Jesus. It would shape their ministry for life. It is not doing things for Jesus, it is listening to Jesus and then do what He says.

4th Epiphany - Believe it or not

Posted January 30th, 2012

Jesus and His disciples went to Capernaum and on the Sabbath enter the synagogue. During the service Jesus not only taught with authority but revealed the authority given to Him by God. Those who were present were amazed and Jesus' fame spread throughout the region. If we were there would be believe what we heard and saw and receive it in our hearts or would be walk out with only head knowledge. What happened over 2000 years ago is still the same question we and others are faced with today.

3rd Epiphany - Fisher of people...

Posted January 30th, 2012

One of the most difficult things to do is to pull up all stakes and move. It means leaving behind family, friends, and familiar surroundings and to do so requires faith. Jesus first calling of Andrew, Peter, James and John required them to give up everything and follow him. What was it that drew them to leave their family, friends, and their business to follow Jesus. Are we willing to give up our lives to Jesus and follow Him?

2nd Epiphany - Thanks for telling me

Posted January 16th, 2012

So what if something that life changing was revealed to someone you knew and they didn't tell you. How would you ever know about it? You'd be left out. What if you knew about something life changing to someone and you didn't tell them? How would they ever know? John the Baptist had pointed out to Andrew that Jesus was the Lamb of God and to go follow him, Andrew went and told his brother Peter. Jesus told Philip to follow Him and after he did he went and told his brother. Through the Apostle's teaching we hear the life-changing message of God's grace, love and mercy through Jesus.

The Baptism of our Lord - Empowered by the Holy Spirit

Posted January 8th, 2012

We hear announcements all the time. Announcements tell us what is going to happen or what is happening at the moment. When we hear the announcement we have a choice of whether we want to follow or do what the announcement is proclaiming. John the Baptist announced to Israel that the Messiah was here. He announced what God required, that all should repent and turn for the ways of the world and return to Him. God announces to us through His Holy Scripture who Jesus is and what He came to do. God empowered Jesus to do His ministry here on earth.

What's in a name?

Posted January 2nd, 2012

We all have names given to us. Only one name has changed the world... It is a name either reverenced or despised...On the eighth day after Jesus' birth, Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem. It was here they proclaimed his name. A name above all names ... Jesus, Savior, God is our salvation. A name to which all knees shall bow and the tongues confess...That He is Lord and His kingdom will last forever...

Christmas Eve 2011 A Charley Brown Christmas

Posted December 25th, 2011

Does anyone really know the meaning of Christmas... This was a question Charley Brown ask...Linus his friend was able to answer... do you we know the real meaning of Christmas? Is our meaning of Christmas the same answer the Linus gave...

Do Not Be Afraid -4th Sunday in Advent 2011

Posted December 18th, 2011

Do Not Be Afraid...these are often words we hear after someone tells us what is about to happen or asks us to do something. Do Not Be Afraid is sometimes hard to comprehend when it seems as if it is out of the spectrum of our ability to do the task asked of us. The angel Gabriel came to Mary and told not to be afraid for she was going to be the mother of God's son, Jesus. Mary a young girl who was not of wealthy parents or royal blood would be called to do something great.

3rd Sunday in Advent 2011 - Joy

Posted December 11th, 2011

There are different kinds of joy - expected and unexpected. When we see what God is doing our lives and around us we experience both kinds of joy. We cannot however experience that joy unless we know His Son Jesus.
