Fr. Dave Newhart - Rector
Fr. Dave was born in Scranton, PA. Growing up in a military family he moved frequently living in TX, CA, PA, FL, and NM. After graduating high school and one year at the University of New Mexico he spent 4.5 years in the Air Force serving in FL, Germany, and AZ. Following his time in the military he attended Arizona State University and received a BS in Ag-Industry with a emphasis in Food Science. Upon graduation and two years of post-graduate studies he worked for 18 years in the food industry for Quaker Oats, FMC, and a National Food Distribution company. In 2002 he began seminary at Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA, and was awarded a Masters of Divinity in 2005. Fr. Dave served two years as the assistant rector at St. Helena's in Boerne, TX. In July 2007 he became the rector at St. Elizabeth's. Fr. Dave also serves on Executive Board of the Veteran's Council if Indian River County. He and his wife Tillie currently live in Sebastian and have a blended family of seven children however none are currently living at home.
Music Minister - Mike Granger
Michael was born and raised in Maryland. He studied music at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, but elected to pursue a career in engineering, graduating from the University of Maryland with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and MS degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. Michael moved from Maryland to Florida two years ago to enjoy the good and sunny life here. He just retired from a 40-year career in engineering and looks forward to spending more time doing things like swimming, bicycling, flying, and of course, music. His musical pursuits over the years have included playing in rock and pop bands, accompanying choral groups and serving as a church organist. Michael has been flying since he earned his pilot’s license in 1974, built and flew an experimental airplane and is currently an FAA Certified Flight Instructor. Michael is married and has four children and two grandchildren.
Admin. Asst. to the Rector - Sandy van der Meulen
Sandy served for 9 1/2 years in the Navy. She has a BS in business analytics from William and Mary. She is married to Dave, a fireman in Port St. Lucie. She has three children, two dogs and a horse. She has extensive background in missions and leads outreach programs at her church. She does business mentoring at the local college. She is fifth generation Indian River County resident.
